TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK IDEAS

Apr 22, 2021

Are you looking for a great idea for Teacher Appreciation Week ?    In today’s blog I share a few of my favorite Teacher Appreciation Week ideas I found on the web.  I can’t take credit for all these fabulous ideas but hope they might inspire you to recognize your teachers and staff for all the wonderful things they do to make your school so unique.  Enjoy and have fun!

LIP BALM & SEINFELD:  Lip balm courtesy of Amazon with an attached QR code linked to the Balm episode from Seinfeld. Hysterical laughter from the mail room all morning 🤣. Added a note under the code that our staff is the “balm”.

AROMATHERAPY STATIONS:  Stations with various scented hand lotions set up for teachers in the faculty room, adult bathrooms, and other places where students don’t hang out.   Pretty cool! The “Stress Relief” one was the most used lol.

BAKED POTATO BAR:  Served 65+ teachers and staff.  70 potatoes, 1 rub of butter, 2 tubs of sour cream, 6 pack of chili cans and a 5lb bag of shredded cheese for $67 at Sams! Drinks and desserts!  Everything provided by admin team.

PAT ON THE BACK:  Principal/admin team make up 8.5x11” cardstock banners with string attached that can hang around a teacher’s neck (in the middle of their back) like a sign.  Principal takes time in advance to write a personalized message to each teacher and then hand delivers the sign to the teacher in the morning and hangs it over his/her head like an award.  Teachers wear these throughout the day.  It was fun watching colleagues read each other’s messages throughout the day.

OTHER IDEAS:

  • Themed Week Events (i.e. Sports themed week like the image in this post, Superhero themed week, etc).  Something different based on the chosen theme for each day.
  • Pancake breakfast prepared by admin team
  • Chair massages – bring in local masseuse
  • Taco/nachos bar (with “You’re nacho average teacher” tag)
  • Breakfast bar
  • Popcorn bar – various flavored popcorns
  • Chocolate bar
  • BBQ for teacher’s during teacher lunch periods – principal/admin team bring in grill and BBQ lunch complete with all the fixin’s (don't forget vege burgers!)
  • Student made video – “My teacher is a SUPERHERO because…” including photos and interviews with students. Add a full class picture.

A great resource for creative teacher appreciation ideas is Pinterest.  You can find all sorts of fun ideas, printable tags, and more there.
